We have a new 50th feature on campus – our fountain!
Our campus now has a seven metre high fountain in the middle of our lake.
The idea was put forward by the Department of Estates to celebrate our 50th anniversary and after successful testing the new feature will run from 8:30am to 9pm as a trial, illuminated in the evening.
As well as providing a centrepiece to the lake, the cascade will aerate the water and increase oxygen levels which deplete in summer.
Martyn Whalley, Director of Estates, said:
“The fountain will add to the visual appeal of our campus and by keeping the aquatic wildlife healthy and energetic it will also support the overall local ecology, including the heron and ducks.
“Students and staff have already been very positive and several Open Day visitors on Saturday (17 September) said how impressed they were.”
