FIRST LEGO League International Open Championship
The University of Bath is delighted to be hosting this vibrant and prestigious international robotics competition to celebrate young talent and inspire the next generation of leaders in science, engineering, technology and maths.
Hosted in the UK for the first time!
100 teams from across the world will be taking part, bringing together 700 children (9-16 year olds) and 500 teachers and mentors. The competitors will showcase their skills in construction, programming, real world problem-solving and presentation of ideas and solutions, while also sharing their culture, core values, making friends and having fun!
1. Programme and build an autonomous robot to undertake a series of tasks and score points on a themed playing field.
2. Develop a solution to a problem that the team has identified. This year’s project theme is ‘Animal Allies’. Each team will create a way of improving the interaction between humans and their chosen animal, developing their idea through research and collaboration with experts.
3. Adhere to FIRST LEGO League’s signature set of core values, by celebrating discovery, teamwork and gracious professionalism.
Interested in volunteering? Get involved!
FIRST LEGO League is only possible because of the tremendous support from our volunteers.
We need judges to evaluate robot design, team projects on the theme ‘animal allies’, and core values. We also require volunteers to act as robot referees, pit supervisors, team escorts, entertainment helpers, first aiders and much more.
